Your Ideal Environment for Growth
These lovely sunny days are making me feel that spring is on
it’s way. You may be thinking about flower or vegetable gardening,
planning where different plants should go and when to plant them.
Personal growth and garden growth have some similarities.
As for your garden, you don’t have to be a farmer to know that it is
important to plant in the correct environment for optimal growth.
Information about ideal conditions is readily available. If
you know that a plant will thrive in the sun you don’t put it in a shady area of
the yard. You know that too much water, not enough water, extreme
temperatures and soil conditions are all important factors in how productive
your crop or garden turns out to be.
Now, think about this – no matter how much you know about
plants, you could even have a degree in horticulture – if you don’t use
that knowledge your garden will not produce anything. You could
have a large quantity and variety of seeds, however if you keep them in little
packages and don’t ever plant them, they will never sprout and
grow. The potential is definitely there. It is just
dormant. It is waiting for the right environment.
How about you? Are you waiting for the right
environment? Unlike the seeds for your garden, you don’t have to
wait for something outside of you to put you in the best place for
growth. You are in control. You can change your
environment any time you want. This can be done by changing the
existing conditions or physically moving to where better conditions
exist.
Are you growing and learning - in your personal life and in
your career or business? What environment(s) are you choosing to be in?
Who are you spending time with? Pay attention to what you
are listening to and watching. What are you thinking about?
If you purposefully choose your environment for growth the benefits will
be visible. Is now the right time to take a course, read a book you have been
meaning to get to, join a new club or networking group and meet some new
people? Spring is in the air - get ready to bloom!
